Shadowstorm lifted her muzzle to scent the air around her, prey is what she needed and it seemed like she was just chasing shadows. Her eyes sparked with anticipations as her tail made short and swift movements. Flickering from side to side, her eyes locked onto what she thought. There was a prey scent, finally some good fortune. A vole would suit her fancy. She knew now that she had to band together with other wolves to survive.
The bitter cold snapped at her fur as the wind howled, she felt a shiver down her spine, but she shook it away, it was time to focus on food. She crouched down, her tail steadily hovering above the ground as she paced forward, her pawsteps light like clouds. She leapt and pinned the vole as it started to scurry away. She snapped it's neck, hearing the faintest crack as she bit it's nick.
Her head tilted to the side in listen. She dismissed what she thought she heard and she sat down to eat her kill. The juicy meat was always the best kind and she'd hit the jackpot. It had been long since she'd eaten a full animal. she savored every bite, making sure not to let them go to waste. She was going to survive. Now she needed supporters. She would be an alpha.

Tamlen was not a wolf suited for the biting winds that snapped around at his face. He was a desert wolf, born there, lived there, stole there, but no longer there. After the last raiding pack he was in tore itself apart Tamlen started to travel to find somewhere else to live. That is how he ended up being in the forest that banked right next to the desert.
The small wolf ran through the snow, sinking lower into the piles before jumping back to the top and having to repeat the whole situation over again. His bright red fur, which suited well for camouflage in his homeland, made him very apparent in the white winter lands. He was a streak of blood tainting the pure ice.
As another gust of wind hit Tamlen’s face he smelt something different on the horizon, something that was bleeding. Some creature out there was enjoying a feast while Tamlen starved in a world he did not belong in. He was no fool. Tamlen knew that if he were to continue to stay on his own he would not live to see the next month. He had to join a pack regardless if he trusted little.
Following the bloodied scent Tamlen slunk through the snow covered underbrush, his three silver bracelets clinking ever so slightly with each step. Upon finally reaching his destination Tamlen slithered under a dead bush, stiff twigs pressing past his short fur and into the skin underneath. Brown eyes peered from the push as he scanned the wolf in front of him: a black female, her muzzle tinted red from her prey.
The female had not left anything of her kill, nothing that even a small wolf like Tamlen could scavenge. The clinical wolf calculated his chances if he went out to talk to the black female- would she attack him or want him to join her? Basing it off how she left nothing left on her kill, probably knowing the smell of blood would attract others, Tamlen doubted she wanted company.
Concluding that the black female posed more of a threat Tamlen decided to wait her out. She would leave her kill and he would try to pick some meat off of it and then continue his search for a pack.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,430,true] | [atrb=background,http://i50.tinypic.com/2isk001.png] Shadow was a very paranoid wolf to say the least, any movement amongst the volant leaves in the trees would make her flip, but it was much worse then that, that was only if it wasn't a wolf. She went berserker to find a wolf wolf spying on her. No, but not this time, she needed wolves for her clan. She perked her ears at faint rustling, her attention snapped immediately to the trees, her claws dug in the ground. "Come out, come out wherever you are." She challenged the thing hidden in the trees. "You won't harm me in the place my clan will make a future are you?" She called out, it soothed the inner paranoid self inside of her.
She wasn't just a wolf of many paranoia's, she was so screwed up, she was indeed bi-polar and had a knack for hunting. She hated healing, it annoyed her, but it could also save her life. She let her tail flick from side to side in agitation as she ate the last morsel of meat from what was once a vole. The wind bellowed her fur and her eyes glanced around with caution. The weather was not particularly fond of her at the moment, but she was raised in the mountains, she was use to it.
Her paws and tail rested on the hardened ground, her nose scenting around for a wolf or something that could explain the noise she heard. The recent rains had blocked out all her scents however, she was almost completely blind when it came to scents. There was a small puddle near by that she got up to drink from. This forest was better for a clan then the mountains she had once planned to start the clan in.
Shadow glanced around as the cold water reached her parched lips. Perhaps this wolf was trying to ambush her? Her scents were cleared up as she was not distracted by the thirst. she still had one thirst to be quenched however, the thirst for power. She was not in the best of moods, but this wolf could help her start her clan. She'd had a bit on her mind since her last encounter with a wolf. All about her future clan.

At the black female’s dare Tamlen’s large ears pinned back against his skull, clearly unhappy that the stranger had noticed him. That’s not how he wanted it to go, not at all.
“You won't harm me in the place my clan will make a future are you?”
The female before him had a strange way of speaking, almost archaic compared to the rough and tumble of his old pack. Those beasts were so crude, crass down to their very nature. Though, this wolf in front of him had both gall and a unique aura about her. Tamlen felt as if he had been digging through the mud, claws scratching at pathetic items, before stumbling upon this trinket of a wolf. And the female was also starting to form a clan, a clan that could protect Tamlen from an untimely death.
Brown eyes burning with a fevered delight, Tamlen slunk out of his protective bush to present himself to the female. He was, by far, smaller than the black wolf and he shrunk down to the ground to grovel into the snow to prove himself not a threat.
Let the black wolf take him in. Let her new pack shelter him and foster him. And then when the time came and Tamlen needed to leave or the pack destroyed itself as most packs were want to do, then Tamlen would depart.
“I would not harm you,” Tamlen said when he finally opened his maw, his worlds slithering out. “the smell of your kill was what brought me here, not a desire to attack.”
Yellowed teeth flashed in the winter sun as Tamlen provided a crooked smile for the female.

Shadowstorm listened, like she was really gonna believe him. "How can you prove you mean no harm?" She challenged to the wolf, her eyes locked on her possible target. She wasn't going to share her prey with anyone other then fellow clan members. She had yet to form her clan, and that meant she shared her food with no one.
Her tail flickered back and forth to the side, and her eyes looked around curiously. She was sure of one thing, he was a nice strong young man. Possibly good for the pack. but did he have the guts? Did he have the loyalty to stand in submission to a girl as others had told her no. She hated the likes of those. But she had nothing to do now, so she simply made an offer.
"Do you think you have what it take? I'm starting a clan, if you can prove that you'd be a good candidate. We are always looking for members. Well, I'm looking for members. I haven't found a deserving wolf yet. Just loners who try to steal my food." He said, her eyes narrowed a bit, as if trying to read if he was sincere right now. Or if he was just trying to mess with her head.

How much more did he have to grovel for this thick coal of an oaf to believe him? Suppressing an annoyed scoff Tamlen pushed himself out of the snow, lifting his head just a bit to face the black female, his gaze at her feet. The cold slush clung to his white underbelly, stinging cold as his coat provided little warmth. He would be quite pleased once winter was done with its dreary reign over the land and he could stop being cold for once in his pathetic life.
“By not attacking you, dear lady, I have already proven to be no harm,” he responded, words slithering from his pale tongue to the dark female’s waiting ears. He would tell her what she wanted to hear and only that. “If you are in want of wolves to join your clan I could be of assistance. I have many valuable assets to offer but only to those wise enough to realize that.”
Tamlen’s brown eyes flashed up to meet the female’s; for a moment it seemed as if Tamlen’s eyes flickered a bright blue, mocking the female’s orbs, as if the trick of light had played some demented game. Though as quickly as it happened Tamlen lowered his gaze back to the snow to show submission as if the occurrence didn’t happen at all. Perhaps it didn’t at all.
Would the female see his worthiness or would Tamlen be forced to flee the area and continue looking for another pack to infest? As he waited for the ebony wolf’s response Tamlen’s thoughts drifted to the locations he had already found in the forest that would be suitable hiding places for anything of value he happened to come across which he was bound to take for his own.

Shadowstorm watched as he talked. "First impressions are not always the wisest impressions sir. I always reserve judgment until a wolf shows they're true colors." She said, thinking of that wolf on the mountain, she'd been nice at first, but then she attacked, leading to worse and worse situations. "You look strong enough to be a guardian and defend our borders. You look fast enough to hunt. May I hear what assets you have?" She asked, pride and vigilance is important, but she had one thing that outranked all. That was determination.
Determination was high up on her list, if one had the determination to be a member of her clan, if they were determined to prove themselves to her. Then that was all she needed. She saw it as a more honorable path. She examined him more, he seemed to be a good suit for her pack. Perhaps he could be leader until she found a proper mate. "Understand if you join, you'd take the spot as leader, but I would be the main leader until I found myself a proper mate." She said, she'd accept wolves into the clan, she'd make sure they did they're jobs and she'd call meetings.

"First impressions are not always the wisest impressions sir. I always reserve judgment until a wolf shows they're true colors."
“True,” Tamlen thought to himself as his bushy tail flicked against the snowy ground like a murder’s bloodied weapon pounding away at its victim. Perhaps this black female was smarter than Tamlen originally thought. No matter though, he would work around that.
His gaze hovering just below the eye line of the midnight colored wolf, a sure sign of submission that Tamlen knew would translate well to the female, he continued to listen to her prattle away traits that did not quite suit him. He could defend himself, yes. He could hunt, yes. But those things were not his forte, those things he could do though he could not excel at.
“I am an abled scout, ma’am,” he explained, adding the formality as a respective touch, “Most do not notice when I am tracking them.” Tamlen did not add that he was master of lying and could con his way into most things. Like he was doing now.
When the black wolf talked about leadership Tamlen wrinkled his nose in disgust. Leadership meant that people noticed him and when people noticed him he was never left alone. No time to look for trinkets to steal and hide. No peace and quiet to think. Just the madness of being surrounded by fools! Yet it was only a temporary position to leadership, not something he would have to be burdened with for long.
Tamlen quickly nodded his head.
“I am Tamlen Trease and I will do all what I can to serve you and your pack,” the sly wolf declared, his yellow fangs peeking out from a disconcerting grin.
