The Wheatfield

The wheatfield is a huge field of wheat that goes on for miles and miles. Most of the year the wheat is growing, but it grows so high at times that, like the cornfield, it is exceptional place to live. There are many fieldmice and rabbits here, so prey is well supplied. At the wetter times of the year, fall, winter, and spring, snakes also inhabit most of the wheatfield for a while. There are still dangers, of course. There are many hawks, who come to snatch away pups and eat them, though hawks can also be a source of food. Then there are the machines that cut the wheat, and the farmers who drive them. Farmers will shoot canines of they see them. The wheat can easily be formed into shelters, and most but definitely not all weather can be kept out.
